The Making of Forme
Welcome to your exclusive preview of Forme. In countdown to the official launch, here you can uncover inspiration and insight behind our groundbreaking new brassware collection.
The conscious approach to luxury brassware
From the creators behind Forme
From only a brief glimpse of any Samuel Heath product, it is apparent that craftsmanship remains central to our ethos. In our Birmingham factory, each piece of brassware is meticulously formed from the purest Northern European brass and then polished by hand to create a flawless finish before undergoing a high-quality electroplating process.
During the early design stages of the Forme collection, exchanges of expertise took place between our Design Engineers, manufacturing technicians and craftsmen. This enabled us to create a dynamic product line that encapsulates the beauty of ‘minimalism in motion’ with the same flawless quality and functionality that Samuel Heath’s clients come to expect, using a streamlined manufacturing process with less energy and raw materials.

Good things may take time, but the finest things take a little longer. How do we ensure that the Forme collection presents the flawless brass finishes for which we are known while also conserving resources?
Go behind the scenes with our Master Plater in the final instalment of Creating Forme to find out.
Polishing with Martin Osbourne
Master Polisher, Samuel Heath
Every piece of our brassware is shaped and polished by hand, and time is no limit to achieving a flawless finish. This begs the question: how can we produce nothing short of perfection while aiming to conserve our factory’s energy?
During the development of the Forme collection, Martin liaised with our Computer Aided Manufacturing Technicians to develop designs that would minimise the need for intensive polishing. Watch the newest instalment of Creating Forme to uncover the groundbreaking process.

To get the many sculpted and 3D effects that can be seen in a single Forme control, some need up to 16 cutting tools moving in 5 directions, with spindle speeds moving at 1600 rotations per minute.
The Making of Forme story continues with our Manufacturing Director, Martin, who shares the Computer Aided Machining techniques involved in creating all 309 bespoke components, essential to conserve precious metals and our factory’s consumption of energy.

Technical Director, Samuel Heath
Our brassware collections are very precise in terms of material and craftsmanship involved. As design engineers, our challenge was to turn our routes of design and manufacture on their heads to understand how we can create a collection that is still highly beautiful and more eco-conscious to make...
The first instalment of the series follows our Technical Director, Adam, who explains how our Design Engineers collaborated with our craftsmen and technicians to perfect the eco-conscious designs with ‘minimalism in motion’ at our brassfoundry in Birmingham, England.
